Northam Women in Business

Supporting and nurturing our local businesses and women in business since August 2015. Membership of the Northam Chamber of Commerce offers immediate membership to Northam Women in Business. This wonderfully active group of professional businesswomen provide Northam and the greater surrounds with stimulating events, fun and informative networking functions and opportunities to grow both personally and professionally through developing strong business contacts.

 

Our Mission Statement

As a subcommittee of the NCC, we proactively engage with and empower women in business from Northam and surrounds to achieve excellence in business, through offering female-focused guidance, learning & motivation, while fostering a social network that facilitates connection and mutual support.

Inclusive: We welcome all women interested in local business, whether that be through running a home business or shopfront, employed in business or a stakeholder in our business community.

Northam Women in Business Bursary

In its 10 years of operation the Northam Women in Business has helped empower and advance local female-run enterprises, by connecting women together - championing the notion that we are stronger as one. Through the creation of the Northam Women in Business bursary, a $5,000 award was offered to women operating businesses within the Shire of Northam to invest in their own education or expansion of operations. The prize money has seen local business owners become empowered and provided opportunities otherwise unobtained. 

The common reflection from former bursary recipients was the immense levels of validation and confidence they felt towards their business endeavours when they were supported by the Northam Women in Business. The bursary was more than money for these winners, it was confirmation that both them and their business mattered. 

Through the generosity of Northam Women in Business event attendees, women from throughout the Wheatbelt have helped contribute financially to the bursary that has provided life changing business growth to local female-run businesses. Without the support of the Northam community, the Northam Women in Business would not have been able to make the bursary program possible.
